The curiosity for the world of boxing has generated a reportage about the current amateur boxing scene and in particular for the boxing scene in Le Marche.
A real and yet still unknown image of the boxing amateur scene of Le Marche.
The reasons that bring people to enter the boxing club and the “aesthetics” that lies behind. The inner path that both young people and adults share within the boxing clubs and the dedication for an art that becomes a new chance, an alternative and at times also a redemption. An art that is still considered by the majority a noble art.
Images, stories and anecdotes to narrate an “underground” world that becomes more real and authentic. Far from other sports as way of being conceived and as a style, amateur boxing is above all others the popular discipline. On the ring, very often improvised with the few available means, different social classes and backgrounds are levelled before the challenge, that is an end to itself and never violent. Odosha expelled
The New Tribes Mission in Venezuelan Amazon
On
October 12th 2005, day of the Indigenous Resistance, the president
of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez Frías decreed the expulsion
from Venezuela of the New Tribes Mission. "They
must leave Venezuela. They are agents of a real imperialistic penetration.
They take away strategic information and are exploiting the Indians.
So they must leave and I don't care a bit about the consequences
this might cause".
Since the 70's the New Tribes had
been accused by some indigenous communities, environmental organizations,
anthropologists and intellectuals of forcefully evangelizing the
indigenous population, thus violating and disrespecting their culture.
They were also accused of carrying out activities in search of
mining prospects as well as of establishing strategic zones as
colonizing enclaves while receiving financial support from Ford, Westinghouse and
war business industries like General
Dynamics.

Ode to the water goddess. the great mother, the ganga
The most sacred and polluted river of the planet
The sacred river flows down from the Himalayan Mountains to the plains where it merges with the Brahmaputra waters.
Varanasi, the holy city, the city of Shiva, on the banks of the river Ganga (Ganges), the Hindu sacred place.
The water of the Ganga has the power to wash away all the sins of mortals and it is the perfect place to die in order to reach the Moksha.
The Moksha is a human liberation from the cycle of birth and re-birth, the cycle of reincarnation, in order to finally earn access to heaven.
Kashi, once known as Benares, and today as Varanasi, literally means the city between the two rivers Varuna and Asi.
Mark Twain wrote: "Benares is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend and looks twice as old as all of them put together!"
At dawn a magic light caresses the river. At sunset the pilgrims gather along the ghats to join the puja rituals.
Every day along the 7 kilometres of the river nearly 60,000 people descend the ghats to perform the ritual bathing ceremony. The purpose being to cleanse themselves of the sins of their current and past lives.
At the same time along the same stretch of land 30 sewerage systems pouring their waters into the river. A non-profit association, the Sankat Mochan Foundation, is carrying out a project aimed to help the Great Mother to recover her breath.

Toubib or not toubib
Applied "art-therapy" in a Parisian psychiatric asylum
Inside the psychiatric asylum there is a room funnily called Non-Faire (Ndt. without doing).
And these two words become even more paradoxical when you look at the paintings on the walls done by the patients. You can hear some classical and modern music and listen to it.
On a typing machine you can write some personal letters or a poem or a novel: the halting lines, the syntax and spelling mistakes do not count here, the literary value of these texts are irrelevant! No locked doors any longer!
In a second you find yourself navigating outside the hospital walls, where the high walls topped with glass bottles fragments do not exist anymore.
This journey through time and space well deserves the name of Non-Faire as every single art performed in here, in an ingenious, mediocre or poor way, finds its beauty in the gratuitousness of the Non-Faire.
May this place be joined by more and more of people who suffer or feel the burden of hospital constraint. And I know some who have spent some excellent moments here, who have laughed.
And if during five minutes, one hour we can be under the illusion of forgetting the black tunnel populated by nightmares and anguish that is ready to fall on our head, this time ca look like a illusion ; but a Spanish man of the Golden century wrote: Life is a dream..." Rachel Cohen

It is a pun as toubib is the French slang for doctor and the sentence recalls the pronunciation of the English to be or not to be (from a writing on a wall inside the atelier). .

The idea of this reportage was to understand the working situation of people living around the Mediterranean Sea documenting with black and white photographs the ways of working, and so living, of these populations, in order to achieve a broad "portrait".
At the beginning, I was curious to know my nearest roots better, (i.e.) the realities spreading at south, not much known but with which we've been maintaining commercial, social and cultural relations for millenniums.
I wanted to rediscover these roots that are so often forgotten living in the European Community.
On my return, looking at the photographs taken, I realized I experienced more, I went back in time to the year zero, I toured the world in the year zero, I had traveled, a camera around my neck in the year zero.
From the films came timeless pictures showing us that for the Mediterranean peoples, time seems to have stopped.
A travel notebook, 1300 photographs, a journey around this sea and a 2000 year jump in the past in the most important islands and towns connected by the Mediterranean sea: GREECE, TURKEY, SYRIA, LEBANON, CYPRUS, ISRAEL, PALESTINE, EGYPT, TUNISIA, ITALY, FRANCE, SPAIN and MOROCCO, where customs, time, borders and the International political situation permits.
